The annual Interior Provincial Exhibition takes place every year on the five days before Labour Day Monday. This event, popularly known as the Armstrong Fair, is now recognized as the largest agricultural fair in British Columbia. It is in every way, an old time country fair, complete with all the elements that make a fair such a family event. The fair features an incredible range of exhibits. Livestock exhibits include cattle, horses, sheep, swine, goats, rabbits, poultry and more. Visitors can stroll though the barns and get up close to these farm animals that reflect the diversity of agriculture in British Columbia. Everyone can enjoy the other agricultural displays and competitions such as vegetables, fruit, field and seed, honey, flowers, and wine and beer. Exhibits in the domestic skills, from home baking and canning, to art and photography, to needlework and quilts are all part of the mix that goes to make the fair the ?showcase of the Interior.?
No fair would be complete without a midway and the IPE boasts one of the best. West Coast Amusements offers a full midway, complete with the latest in carnival rides and games. Also included in the entertainment mix is the West Coast Lumberjack Show which features crowd-pleasing events such as log rolling, axe throwing, and the breath-taking pole climbing. This show, which takes place three times a day, is a real crowd-pleaser.
Entertainment is also the focus at the ever popular food fair where the Dodge Truck Stage, offers music groups representing a wide variety of formats, from Country and Western, to Rock and more!
As usual, the Canadian Professional Rodeo will take place every evening of the fair. Our rodeo is one of only three in British Columbia that form part of the prestigious Canadian Rodeo Tour, which means that the best rodeo cowboys in North American are involved. The rodeo, along with all of the activities and events, is included in the one low admission price, making the IPE one of the most affordable family events of the summer.
