The Kamloops Art Gallery is delighted to present the exquisite stone sculpture exhibition Awakenings, by regional artist Brian Rouble. It runs from May 24 to July 13, 2008 in the Gallery Under Glass and is free to the public.
Awakenings brings together science and spirituality through Brian Rouble’s exploration of global consciousness. He has travelled the globe, making multiple trips to Africa. His sculptures are influenced by indigenous African art and culture and his scientific background in genetics and quantum physics. His imagery is based on human forms—most notably faces—emerging and contorting out of different varieties of soapstone and marble. Rouble and his family make their home on a small acreage in Monte Lake, southeast of Kamloops.
