We’ll size and fit your bike to ensure your maximum riding comfort as well as introduce you to your guides and trip companions. Following a trip briefing, we embark out on our Okanagan cycle tour. An easy and scenic ride out of town takes us to the world famous Mission Hill Winery, owned by Anthony Von Mandl. There are superb views of Okanagan Lake while standing amid the beautiful architecture of this family estate winery. Enjoy a packed lunch on the hillside while overlooking Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Cabernet and Pinot Noir grape vineyards. We’ll also take time to
enjoy a guided winery tour before embarking on our next leg of the journey.
• The latter half of the afternoon takes us cycling through the community of Peachland en route to our camping destination at Okanagan Lake Provincial Park. On the way, we stop to visit local artisan studios as well as fruit stands along the roadway. Once at camp, you’ll enjoy a restful evening and nutritious meal prepared by your guides. Watch the sunset, inhale the warm scents of the woodlands, and enjoy the accomplishment of your first day of cycling.
Day 2 Peachland to Penticton
• We begin the day with a delicious breakfast prepared by our guides. The first leg of the journey today is a cycle to the vibrant community of Summerland on the way to Penticton. While passing through Summerland we take in a tour of the Sumac Ridge Estate Winery to enjoy lunch on the grounds overlooking Okanagan Lake. Celebrating over 25 years in the business, Sumac Ridge Estate Winery offers an assortment of wines for sampling. Sumac Ridge produced the Okanagan’s first Chardonnay, sparkling wine and Canada’s first Meritage Wine.
• After the tour, we continue on into Penticton to enjoy the cluster of vineyards and orchards that mark this unique landscape along the way. Upon arrival in Penticton, we’ll check into one of the Bed and Breakfasts that make this area renowned for its fantastic hospitality. Take some time to settle in and then enjoy the remainder of the afternoon shopping and site seeing. Feel free to dine with the group for dinner or venture out on your own as the city offers many culinary experiences to enjoy.
Day 3 Penticton to Okanagan Falls
• After a peaceful evening and fortifying breakfast, we cycle to the orchards and vineyards along the famed Naramata Bench. This region is recognized for its spectacular setting as well as its perfect climate for growing grapes. Our first stop of the day is the Red Rooster Winery. Indulge your senses by sampling an array of fragrant, bold tasting wines while taking in the displays of art within the showcased building.
• From here, we head back south taking the scenic route along the east side of Skaha Lake. Our next stop is the historic Blasted Church Winery known for its white wine, Hatfield’s Fuse, so named for the man who lit the fuse that blasted apart a local church in 1929. The cycling will end for the day when you pull into camp to enjoy the beaches at the end of Skaha Lake. Take a swim, read or relax as the guides prepare a great meal followed by a fresh fruit, chocolate fondue dessert.
