3 Day Thompson Golf

The 2nd largest city in BC's interior offers an amazing variety of world class courses

The Thompson is best known as a three-season destination due to the extraordinary weather. Semi-arid, dry, sunny days make this valley and its courses championship quality. With an amazing variety of course layouts throughout the valley, everyday playing will look and feel different no matter how you tee it up.

Day 1 – Vancouver to Kamloops (3½ hours)

  • Arrive in the Thompson Valley via Highway 1 and 5
  • Plan on an afternoon tee time at Sun Rivers Golf Course. This course is one of Canada’s few “true” championship desert courses. Voted Golf Digest’s “Best New Course in Western Canada” in 2003, Sun Rivers is the essence of exceptional golf, offering dramatic elevation changes, sagebrush, natural sand dunes, classic bunkering, wide bent grass fairways, gently contoured greens and majestic vistas of Kamloops.
  • Overnight in Kamloops. Accommodation suggestions:
    • Best Western Kamloops (www.bestwesternkamloops.com)
    • South Thompson Inn (www.stigr.com)
    • Hampton Inn (www.hamptoninnkamloops.com)

Day 2 – Kamloops

  • Tee off in the morning and experience the golfer’s dream at Rivershore Golf Links. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., Rivershore is a course of uncommon beauty, challenge, and conditioning and has long been considered one of the finest tests of golf in Canada. Host to numerous provincial and national championships including the 2007 BC Professional Golfers Association Championship and the 2008 BCGA Junior Championships, Rivershore is the place to experience the “links in the sage”.  Fore!

Day 3 – Kamloops to Vancouver (3.5 hours)

  • Travel 20 minutes west of Kamloops on the Trans Canada highway for your early morning round of golf at Tobiano Golf Resort (www.tobianogolf.com). Designed by Canada’s premiere golf architect Thomas McBroom and set upon rolling bluffs and canyon-cut ravines overlooking spectacular Kamloops Lake, Tobiano is certain to appeal to visiting golfers of all levels. Extensive range and practice facilities, an attractive clubhouse, pro-shop and indoor/outdoor dining lounge, complete the Thompson Okanagan’s newest resort golf experience.
  • After a relaxing lunch at the resort, return to Vancouver along Highway 5 (the Coquihalla).
